Happy Birthday Bailey!

Monday was Bailey's birthday. She didn't seem that interested, but the kids were very excited. First we made her a cake...2 cans of wet dog food frosted in peanut butter and decorated with dog food and treats.
She snarfed it down!

Then is was time for presents.

She got some dog treats, a chewy bone and a new ball. What a lucky dog! She is now 8 years old and ready for retirement. Too bad the kids have other plans for her, they tend to keep her on her toes.

New shades

I got the kids some cool new shades the other day. They must like them as they've been wearing them around the house non-stop.

March Madness

Aidyn & Jeff filled out their NCAA brackets on Monday night. Aidyn did one all by herself. Jeff would tell her the 2 teams and she'd pick the winner. Her Final Four consists of Georgetown (because it's fun to say), Creighton (because one of our babysitters has a brother named Creighton), Duke (because one of our neighbor dogs is named Duke) and Wisconsin (because her friends Riley & Sydney live in Wisconsin). And her winner is...Wisconsin! Good luck Aidyn!

Girls Day

Aidyn & I had a special girls day today. Aidyn has really been looking forward to today (as have I!). This morning she was walking around the house, pumping her fist, chanting "Girls Day! Girls Day!"
We had a bit of shopping to do first and then we went downtown for lunch. Mac & cheese, fries, chocolate milk & oreos for dessert...Wow...a little girls dream meal!

Finally the big event had arrived. We headed to the Target Center for Disney on Ice: Princess Wishes. Aidyn was beside herself with excitement!

The show was really fun. I think I enjoyed it as much as Aidyn did. Good skating, fun music, great special effects, the best $7 cotton candy I've ever had...

All in all, we had a great day. It was really nice to have some one-on-one time together and just enjoy each others company.

Nolan's new style

Nolan got his hair cut yesterday so Aidyn thought she'd help him out by giving him a new style.
First, the blow dry...
Now a little curl...

And "Voila!"...a new fancy style for Nolan. He seems pleased with his new look.

The Skipping Contest

Are you ready for a good old-fashioned belly laugh? Then check out my friend Jill's post "The Skipping Contest". It is one of my favorite stories. Every time she told it, I laughed. Now every time I read it, I laugh. Check it out for yourself, but be warned, your belly may hurt afterwards.

Just some cute pictures...

Our Fairy...

While we were at the mall yesterday we came across an artist doing sketches of kids for $10. You could pick if you wanted to be an angel, a fairy, a princess, a mermaid, pretty much whatever. Aidyn decided she wanted to be a fairy so this is the sketch he did of her. I thought it turned out pretty cute!

Still a snow day...

Well, we're digging out from our dumping of snow. We ended up getting about 14 inches. Not as bad as we thought it might be, but still plenty. I shoveled the walkway to our front door this morning so if we get any company they can at least make it into the house.
Aidyn was a very nice big sister and gave Nolan a sled ride.

Here she is standing in the driveway. Aidyn said she thought that this is great fort making weather.

Then the kids wanted to play in the backyard. That didn't really work out. We better keep an eye on Bailey back there or we may not find her until spring.

Snow Day!

See that happy expression on Jeff's face? He's excited because of all the snow we're getting and that means he gets to clean the driveway. We've gotten about 12 inches so far and they say we're to get another 8-10 by morning. Jeff will really be smiling by then!
There's the walkway to our front door. I had it shoveled out at lunch time today. Happy March!

Stars in the making...

Jeff got out the microphone tonight and the kids got to showcase their talents.
Aidyn really likes to belt it out...

While Nolan's sound seems to be a little more on the bluesy side...

(In case you're wondering what he's saying..."love you" over and over again. It's a little more like "wha zoo", but you get the drift.)

Cookies & Milk

Aidyn taught Nolan the proper way to dunk cookies in milk the other day. She helped him get the cover off his sippy cup and away he went!

Welcome home

We had a great time in Mexico, but it was so nice to get home. We missed the kids tremendously and I dare say they missed us too. There's nothing like snuggling up for a story to enjoy some time together.

Viva Mexico!

The Monday after Nolan's birthday Jeff and I left for Mexico. We went to the Mayan Riviera area near Playa del Carmen. The weather was perfect, in the mid 80's the whole week. We enjoyed a week of relaxing by the pool, reading (we each read 4 books!) and eating our little hearts out. It was a very nice break and we really had a great time.

Apparently our waiter thought I looked thirsty at dinner. Red wine, a peach margarita and water should hit the spot.

We had some nice wildlife at our hotel to enjoy. There were iguanas everywhere, a 3-legged Mexican resort cat that we affectionately named Mr. Meowser and some sort of strange Mexican giant roaming rat. I don't think they were actually rats, but we had no idea what in the world they were.
