The Painful Truth

We had our spring conference with Aidyn's preschool teacher today. Everything is going well and her teacher said she is definitely ready for Kindergarten. However, she did have one thing she wanted to share with us.
A few weeks ago the class read a story about a little boy who is searching for the best place to read in his house. After story time the children were to draw pictures of where the best place to read is in their house. Aidyn's teacher had her explain the drawing that she did. She decided on my lap on the couch is the best place to read. So sweet! The teacher then asked her what all the 'circles' were underneath the couch. Aidyn explained to her that those are the giant dust balls that we have under our couch. Yikes! Children are so observant and so painfully honest.

Songbird

The other day Aidyn was belting out one of the songs they sing in church choir . I chuckled as I listened to her because she was struggling with the lyrics a bit. I thought I should help her out and well, this is how well that turned out.

Gymnastics

The kids started gymnastics today. I'm hoping it will be an outlet for Nolan's energy and a way for them to get some exercise when it is so flippin' cold outside. I didn't get any good pictures, but I did get this video of Nolan. They both really enjoyed themselves and are already looking forward to next week.

Lunar Eclipse

Last night we were a house in the dark. We had all the lights off, the binoculors out and the telescope set up. We watched the lunar eclipse take place before bedtime, which meant Aidyn got to stay up later than usual. That alone was a lot of excitement!

It was a neat thing to watch, I hope you got to check it out too!

Sleeping Beauty

Here is how we found Aidyn sleeping the other night. That teddy bear was in a tight embrace with our little girl!

Nolan's Birthday

This past weekend we celebrated Nolan's 3rd birthday. Grandma Sharon, Grandpa Jerry, Grandma Janice, Grandpa Horace, Lisa & Brodie were all in attendance. He was very excited about his race car party!
After dinner & cake on Saturday night, he got to open his presents. Aidyn made him a prince crown to wear. She cut it out into the shape of a football and stapled an elastic strap to it. So cute!!

He also got a 'gooter', more commonly known as a scooter. Those wheels have already put on about 100 miles through our house.

Then on Sunday (his actual birthday) we kept a pretty low profile. He actually ended up having a bad cold this weekend, therefore all the snot in the above pictures. He opened his gifts from us and we ordered pizza for dinner. Nothing too extravagant, but a pretty good day for a 3 year old.

A Valentines Tribute to my Husband

There are many reasons I love my husband but the following story helps to sum up one of the main ones.
Tuesday night was the final night of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. It was all over the internet that day that a beagle was a serious contender for Best in Show. A beagle had never won Best in Show at Westminster so this would be quite a feat. Jeff, who loves his beagle as much as someone can love their dog, was glued to the TV that night. As the group winners entered the ring, Uno, the 15 inch beagle, was greeted with HUGE cheers from the people in the arena. He was clearly the crowd favorite. Jeff immediately called Bailey over to sit with him so they could watch together. After much deliberation from the judge, he picked up the Best in Show ribbon and said "Can I have the beagle?" The crowd erupted, Uno the beagle started barking and I looked over at my husband...He was sitting in his recliner, with his beagle in his lap, tears streaming down his face.
That is one of the reasons I love my husband. He is sweet beyond words and he wears his heart on his sleeve. He's not afraid to show emotion and be affectionate, especially with our kids and I. What a great role model for Aidyn & Nolan.

Thanks for everything you do Jeff, I love you today and everyday. Happy Valentines Day!

Reality

Yesterday, Aidyn had a bit of a sassy attitude. I told her "Aidyn, you don't speak to me that way."
Her reply (in a very snotty tone) "Don't worry mom, someday when I have kids they'll speak to me like that too!"

Today as we're walking through Kohls, an ad came on over the loudspeaker announcing some product they have at their make-up counter to help get rid of dark circles. Nolan says "Mommy, they said dark circles."
"Yes they did Nolan."
"Mommy, you have dark circles under your eyes!"
Thanks for noticing.

I still don't have the answer

Conversation after 'quiet time' today...

Nolan, why are your pants wet?
Because I was in the bathtub.
Why were you in the bathtub?
I was trying to dry my pants.
Why were your pants wet?
Because I was in the bathtub.

Canoe Rocks!

Here's a fun Meme from Jill to come up with your very own band.
Through a random search, you come up with your bands name, the title of your album and the album cover photo. You can't keep refreshing the link. Ya gotta work with what you get. :)

Let's make a band:
1. Click here. The first article title is the name of your band.
2. Click here. The last four words of the very last quote is the title of your album.
3. Click here. The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
4. Take your photo, add the band name and title, then post it.
Here's what I got out of the mix:

My band name is: Canoe
The album title is: Wisdom to Choose Correctly
Here is my album cover:

I kind of like my results. It makes me think of the Foo Fighters a little bit. And I love them, so that's a good thing!
